This weeks challenge is:
So far this year, we've talked a lot about finding rest for our souls. This week we are focusing on finding rest for our bodies.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults age 18-64 need 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Think about an average night's sleep for you. How does it compare? You might be thinking, "Oh, I get 6.5. That's pretty close." but that half an hour at night is 3.5 hours by the end of the week, 182.5 hours by the end of the year and 730 hours by the time your child reaches age 4. That is over a month of solid sleeping!
Many of us our in a stage of life with limited control of our sleep hours due to small children who wake needing to be fed or comforted. We have to grab sleep when we can. So this week, at least once, go to bed early. Put down the laundry. Leave the dishes. Go to bed. This might mean going to bed right after the kids are tucked in for the night. That's okay. Your body and mind will thank you for the extra rest.
